Meet Cammen Dane

Cammen Dane Larson joined our family on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 at 4:29am. 7lb. 13oz. 19 3/4in.

I started having contractions/cramping really bad the Saturday prior so by Monday I could hardly do anything with out severe cramping so I called my sub and decided I could no longer teach.  This just added to the torment of sitting at home and just waiting for something to happen.  By Wednesday I had had enough and decided I was going to try everything possible to try and speed things up as I was just miserable.  (I also forgot to mention the previous two evenings I was having considerable contractions, but then when I would go to bed they would just disappear and I would wake up disappointed.  My doctor did set up an induction date for the following Monday if nothing happened by then.)  BUT I couldn't stand the thought of waiting until Monday so on Wednesday the 2nd I went and had a massage and accupressure points worked on, went for walks, ate spice food, bounced on the excercise ball and even tried the good ol castor oil.  Well I took that at 7pm and by 10 I was having some good contractions.  Then at about 11pm we called our neighbors over to come stay with Caden so we could head to the hospital.  I wasn't sure if my water was leaking or I just peed myself, but when it happened the second time, I figured I didn't pee my pants twice and we headed out.  On the way my water broke in the car and contractions started to get closer together and stronger.
When we finally got all checked into the hospital I explained my fear of not getting an epidural and how with Caden they actually came into the room and then got called out to an emergency.  I did not want this to happen again.  After about 3 hours of walking around trying to get my contractions to become closer together, my doctor had my take pitocin to make the contractions closer together/stronger.  Since they started doing this they had my do my epidural.  Well of course they were just about to give my drugs of relief when AGAIN they got called out to an emergency.  But this time the pitocin had kicked in and I had about a half an hour of REALLY strong/painful contractions.  NOT FUN!!!  They finally came back and I got my relief thank god!!  Then about a half an hour later, I buzzed the nurse and told her I felt like the epidural was wearing off or something wasn't right, so she checked me and by golly the little man was ready to make his appearance.  4 pushes later Cammen entered our world and we became a family of 4!  Overall the whole process went really smoothly (other than the epidural...how the hell can that happen to me twice!??!)  But Cammen was a healthy baby boy and we couldn't have been happier!

This was taken just a few days before he was born

Meeting the new man in my life.

We actually didn't have a name picked out right away...it is such a big decision and we wanted to make extra sure we loved it.  Looking back now, the decision is easy and I love that nobody has heard it before.  I do find people are mispronouncing it with the long a instead of the short a sound, but oh well, we love it...it fits him ;)

Caden meeting Cammen for the first time.  Kyle had bought him that toy airplane in his hand and when he first saw baby, he couldn't wait to show him his new toy.  So sweet.  Caden has surprisingly been doing great with the transition.  Since he was such a mamma's boy I was so nervous that jealousy would be the biggest battle.  But he has been doing great!!!

My sweet friend Amy came to visit and meet Cammen.  Thanks for everything!

Dian the best caretaker in the world!  She helped take care of Caden so Kyle could get some sleep since Cammen arrived at 4:29 AM we had a LONG night!!  Thanks for your help Dian!  She will also be taking care of Cammen when I go back for school in the fall.  We have been so fortunate to have her care for Caden the last three years and now she will for Cam.

Kyle changed Caden's 1st diaper so I thought it was only appropriate that he change Cam's for the 1st time.  This time it didn't go as smoothly and mama had to step in for assistance after poop and pee were everywhere. LOL...I got a good laugh!

It is amazing how much Cade and Cam look alike when they are infants.

My brother and his family came to meet Cammen.  Here Rayden is holding him and I think she would have held him all day long.  She LOVED holding the baby!!

Caden says "now you have 2 kids"

After everyone left Caden asked "when is baby going home?".  I just laughed and explained how he was going to stay with us.  I suppose he figured when everybody showed up that was when Cammen came and then everybody left, why wasn't he leaving too!?  Innocent thoughts of a toddler :)

Brotherly love

My mom was here for the first week and I don't know what I would have done without her.  THANK YOU for everything mom.  Love you, you are the best!!
